Indian-accented man claiming that we (no name used, just 'you') are being sued for tax fraud and to call back immediately. Obviously an attempt at a scam as any legal action would be advised through post not over the phone.

I started receiving these calls on 12/7/16. I have a debt recovery background so I knew something was up. When I answered the call and questioned them about their dealings and the fact that the calls have been traced and recorded. I was fishing for as much info as possible to report it. The Indian on the other end threatened me that the police would be at my door within 5 minutes to arrest me and put me in jail. I asked them how was that possible when you are breaching my rights and on what charges have been laid and where is my summons to court that I would have received via official letter from the judicial system. Extremely panicked and hung up. Lol I'm still waiting for the police (which will not come common sense). Reported to Telstra, ATO and now ACC. These calls are coming very 30-60 mins on my homeland line.
If anyone knows how to stop these bloody calls happening please respond/post up. I can't even make my normal calls.

This 0290995770, supposedly, bgut unlikely, Australia, Sydney landline phone-number was left on my answer-machine about some lawsuit against me - total scam. Adise to not call back or respond at all - Report it to the ACC Scamwatch.

The following call received on answering machine:
"ATO, there is a lawsuit filed against you for tax evasion and tax fraud for more details we want you or your Tony (that's me)to call us back a soon as possible on 0290995770. I repeat the number again (repeats number)and avoid the consequences against you. Thankyou."

Answer machine picked up message saying it was the ATO investigating us for tax evasion & for us or our attorney call them back on 02 90995770, repeated the number too.
I receive calls on a daily basis from the actual ATO which are nothing like this call!
