A man rang today and yesterday from this number. He asked for 'miro' which is my middle name, a nickname that only my family and friends ('close friends' category on facebook)know.
The name 'miro' is not particularly secret but its use by a non-acquaintance is highly irregular, in fact downright suspicious.
The bloke sounds like a cop, but whenever the police have wanted to contact me, eg for traffic notce etc, they always say "this is detective so-and-so of Norwood CIB". In fact all government employees are required by law to identify themselves.
salespersons in NSW are not, as I understand it, required to identify themselves and state the nature of their enquiry while using telecoms plant, but here in Sount Australia, they most certainly are. Two sources of requirement (1) consumer protection (2) privacy via telecommunications act (1975? I think thats right- I used to work for Telecom way back in the day.
Its probably nothing, but I'd be most grateful if you would contact this gentleman and tell him to comply with the law here. Then and only then will I answer the phone.
its not unreasonable, I'm not someone who evades legitimate credit calls. But its my right, and here in SA, its the bloomin' law!
